Day 5 or is it 6? Rocky mountain NP and The Stanley

We headed up into the first really big mountains of the trip. The Trail Ridge Road climbs to 12,000 feet and stays above the tree line for many miles. The snow capped peaks surrounded us and the weather was a mix of thunderstorms and azure blue skies. We did a few hikes but we are still not acclimated. After a full day above the tree line we headed back to The Stanley. You may know this is the hotel Stephen King stayed in while writing the shining. We ended up in room 219 which connects to "Room 217" !!! Cam has been very brave. The hotel is beautiful and they claim it's haunted. Nothing weird happened to us yet besides a strong desire to write my novel, but Cammie keeps bothering me, damn it. All work and no play makes Tom a dull boy. I think all go down and visit the bar now.

Hello

Hope all is well. We miss you and we are sending you well wishes each day.

The kingdom is fine and dandy. Your uncle and "aunt" went to the farm for a day along with Cam's parents. I spoke with George last night and he said they had a delightful time and an uneventful trip back home.

Our weather has been beautiful-sunny, low temps and no rain. Marty is leaving tomorrow(Saturday) for Baton Rouge to join the firefighters and tape the goings on in the relief effort. I sure hope he does not go to New Orleans, it is way too toxic!!

Take good care today. See you soon!!

Love,
Lizz

Base Station Report

*Health Alert! -
the "Trail Ridge Road climb to 12,000 feet" - too exhausting for us!! required extra naps, extra snack rations etc.
New rule! no one here allowed on the Blog unless fully rested and siting down (except Fink, who cannot sit).
*Technical Alert! -
Coke dispenser does not automaticly refill (is this a design flaw??) - forced to manually load cans from box.
*Pet-Management Alert!
Cleo wants to borrow van for trip to town with "friends" - who look like dogs! Is this OK?

tired, but loving our role in this Adventure.
eagerly awaiting more trials and more great photos!

Hi, Tom & Cam - It is great fun reading your musings - I am quite impressed with your insights - must be that lack of office work allowing your creative energies to flow! You are actually missing some incredibly nice Washington weather here - but not great enough to cut your trip short. Things are slow in our empty nest - our big excitement might just be a boat trip to see the almost finished Wilson Bridge! Take care, check your oil, don't even think about the gas prices and have lots of fun. We miss you! Love - Kathy
