Day 2 Hannibal or Bust

550 miles later we are in Hannibal Missouri. The mid-west is where spacious skies and amber ways of corn are king. Cam and I competed for the best gas mileage during our driving shifts. We both lost. We have not yet seen Mark Twain, Huck Finn, Tom Sawyer or Becky Thatcher, but based on the tourist business here, I am sure we will before we head out. On second thought I may have run over Mark Twain while entering the historic down town. The long hours on straight flat highways did not prepare me for the only curve of the day. Did not hit anything, only my ego was bruised.

We had dinner at Bubba’s along the Mississippi and met a very interesting couple, Cheryl and Harold, who recently moved here to purchase an historic building. They travel a lot with his artwork. We hope they visit us in Washington as part of their travels.

The camper is cozy tonight. We can hear trains off in the distance. Still looking for the world’s largest ball of string.
